Cat Ba Island

Located on off the Northeast shore of Vietnam, we headed to Cat Ba for a last hurrah on the coast before continuing north through Vietnam en route to China.

Cat Ba Town

Despite the abundance of hotels, rooms are hard to come by on the weekends.

It's summer holiday in Vietnam.

A motorbike ride to the center of the islands gets you away from the crowds.

Hidden in a cave in the center of the island is the entrance to 'Hospital Cave'.

The cement complex built in the cavern is extensive, it was used to shelter high-ranking officials, including Ho Chi Minh, during bombing raids on the north during the American War.

After some days on Cat Ba we hopped a boat to these bungalows on a neighboring island

The Family

Surrounded by huge limestone cliffs the location was pretty epic!
