Pai, Thailand--A Town of Much Heart

After four hours on insanely curvy mountain roads with a daredevil minibus driver, I found myself in Pai. Set in a fertile agrarian valley in the northeast highlands the little town is a throwback to the Thailand of yesteryears--the scene is relaxed and the vibe is grounded. The cooler climate and rich natural beauty are attractive, but there is draw of the place that goes beyond the physical. A large international community of artists, spiritual seekers and wanders now call Pai home, making tasty global cuisine, live music and stimulating conversation abundant.

The main artery of Pai "Walking Street" comes alive after dark
