Thailand is no secret travel destination, it's hard not to cross paths with other foreigners and the western cultural influence is pervasive. To break up the ride from Chiang Mai to Bangkok I hopped off the train for a night in the town of Phitsanulok. With no significant tourist draws most pass it by, I didn't find another westerner exploring its streets and English was rare. What I did find was a thriving market that ran all day and late into the night, an entertaining visual feast serving up super tasty food that made the stop more than worthwhile.
